Marie Maischberger (Germany), University College Venlo
Food is not only food but also medicine

"I chose UCV because I like how you can design your own curriculum and tailor the bachelor's programme to your specific interests. I am interested in nutrition and psychology because I think food is not only food but also medicine. UCV allows me to select courses that match my interests."

"I enjoy problem-based learning, which involves working with a small group of students as well as on your own. Discussion allows you to connect previous knowledge to new issues. I like this especially because you unconsciously repeat the learned information several times, even before beginning to study for your exams.

After living in Germany and New Zealand, Marie moved to Venlo. Is she enjoying it? "Venlo is small but lovely. I like walking along the Maas River. Everything, like cosy cafes, supermarkets, and cinemas is in close proximity (<10 minute walk). Studying at UCV allows you to learn how to balance studies and free time. I study a lot, but I also engage in sports and meet friends."
