Sofie Schuller, researcher Erasmus University Rotterdam

Sofie Schuller, 2022 alumni of the master’s programme Occupational Health and Sustainable Work (previously known as Work, Health and Career) is currently conducting research on the working conditions of ‘ghost workers’. As a former student-ambassador, Sofie still feels very connected with the programme.

Yoy Bergs, lector and researcher Breda University

Yoy Bergs started the master’s programme Occupational Health and Sustainable Work (previously known as Work, Health and Career) with a bachelor in International Facility Management. During her bachelor, she discovered that the workplace has an effect on worker’s wellbeing. This sparked her interest to pursue a master specialised in work and health.

Manon Claeys, motivation mover and learning expert at Alert!

Manon’s academic path led her to work on prevention and well-being at the workplace. A place where we spend most of our time. The master’s programme Occupational Health and Sustainable Work (OHSW) uncovered the interventions that companies and policymakers need to keep work sustainable. Her job as a motivation mover now supports those organisations with person-centered work policies and educational trainings.

Consultancy

Occupational Health and Sustainable Work graduates can at private consultancies and occupational health services, where they provide advice to organizations on health-related human resource management, case management, empowerment, career development issues, and occupational health and safety. Some work as self-employed Work & Health consultant.

Health Management

In large organisations, graduates of the Occupational Health and Sustainable Work programme have found jobs as Health Managers, HR-advisors or disability managers to establish projects to improve employee health.

Policy making

Some Occupational Health and Sustainable Work graduates have also found work as policymakers or policy advisors at social insurance (UWV), vocational rehabilitation agencies, rehabilitation centres, regional health services (GGDs), employers’ organisations, trade unions, municipalities and patient organisations.

Academia

Our graduates can also be found at universities for applied science, where they teach prospective nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, HR-managers etc. on work and health. Some conduct research at academic institutions on for example sickness absence, burn-out and other mental health disorders, musculoskeletal disorders, and work-related care within healthcare.
