Preparing Conference
Volledige vakbeschrijving
A conference is a platform for scholars or professionals to meet and share ideas, present new discoveries and connect to fellow academics. At a conference new papers are presented, poster presentations shed light on new findings and seminars are held to familiarize the scientific community with new developments. As an academic you visit a conference to present your own work, see others’ work and to start possible collaborations. During this Skills Training and its follow ups, students will collaborate on reshaping their ideas from courses they previously followed and turning them into a contribution to the conference. The focus in these Skills Trainings is on writing abstracts and proposals, peer-reviewing, giving presentations and lectures and finally, preparing for the actual conference which will take place in January. Note that the logistics and practical organization of the conference have a less prominent role in the Conference track, and that the course focuses primarily on the academic content. The Conference ‘track’ consists of three parts: • SKI3050 Preparing Conference I • SKI3051 Preparing Conference II • PRO3006 Conference The first Skills Training will deal with the content of the conference you are about to organize. Students will come up with their own ideas for an individual contribution to the conference (e.g. the presentation of one of their best papers). Students will have to write abstracts and proposals and provide constructive and extensive feedback to their peers. Furthermore, an informative collaborative lecture for UCM freshmen will be prepared for Period 2.Doelstellingen van dit vak
