Practical: Writing Assignment 3
Full course description
Students will practice both popular and academic writing. These assignments are done in pairs and will be based on a semi-structured interview they will perform with a person from a different societal background than themselves. Within these three writing assignments, attention will be paid to writing according to current language and style rules, providing constructive feedback, structuring an academic paper and plagiarism.
This third assignment involves providing useful feedback on an academic paper written by a peer. Furthermore, students will practice reading and interpreting qualitative studies. Each student pair will receive another pairs qualitative research paper and give peer feedback to the other pair according to a feedback scheme.
Course objectives
Students:
- can read, interpret, and reflect upon qualitative studies;
- can formulate a critical conclusion regarding the meaning of qualitative studies;
- can evaluate and criticize papers by peer-reviewing and providing feedback.
- can identify aspects of individual and cultural diversity and recognize potential for prejudice and discrimination regarding these aspects.
