Why this programme?

Business Intelligence and Smart Services

The big data revolution is having an enormous impact on society as a whole, as well as on organisations and individuals. The data explosion is a tremendous source of new opportunities for companies. It enables them to make better, more customer-oriented, more targeted, more cost-efficient decisions. Business intelligence specialists have therefore become an essential asset to any company and any public institution.

In addition, companies have started to develop so-called smart services: product and service innovations that directly capitalise on data and technology, offering added value to customers. New business models centred on the development of smart services are being introduced to meet the growing demand. As a master’s student in Business Intelligence and Smart Services, you’ll learn how to analyse big data, make business decisions in data-rich environments and design data-driven smart services.

Small groups = big advantages

Problem-Based Learning

As with most UM programmes, the School of Business and Economics uses Problem-Based Learning (PBL). In small tutorial groups of no more than 15 students, you seek solutions to ‘problems’ taken from real-world situations. Instructors only give help as needed, allowing you to develop independence and problem-solving skills useful to your career. This dynamic, collaborative system has one of the highest knowledge retention rates of any teaching method.
