Prevention and Health (in Dutch)
Period: September 2024 – January 2025
ECTS for the full track: 30

Many diseases can be prevented if people adopt a healthier lifestyle. But changing behaviour, how do you do that? Telling people why smoking is bad really won't make them stop smoking. Leaflets remain unread, often the environment also does not cooperate or people do not have the means to behave healthily. Within the minor in Prevention and Health, the focus is therefore on:

  • encouraging healthy lifestyles;
  • preventing people from becoming ill;
  • detecting diseases early so that early treatment becomes possible;
  • teaching people who are ill to cope with their illness as well as possible, so that they can function better in everyday life.

If you choose this minor, you will follow the following courses:

  • Uitdagingen in Public Health (PGZ2021)
  • Vaardigheden Uitdagingen in Public Health (PGZ2221)

Digital Technology and Care (in Dutch)

Period: September 2024 – January 2025
ECTS for the full track: 24-30

New technological developments within healthcare follow each other in rapid succession. Think of applications such as eHealth, telemonitoring, robotics, domotics, and electronic information systems. These developments have a profound impact on healthcare. Not only for the clients and patients receiving care, but also for all healthcare professionals involved in delivering this care. However, the successful implementation of these applications in healthcare is not yet without controversy. The distance between ICT and care is sometimes still great and the two worlds often still speak two different languages. This minor aims to build bridges between these worlds.

If you choose this minor, you will follow the following courses:

  • Kansen in de Zorg: de Rol van Digitale Technologie (DTZ2021)
  • Vaardigheden Kansen in de Zorg (DTZ2221)
  • Wetenschap in de Maatschappij DTZ (GZW2260) (basis variant)

  • Governance en Digitale Zorgtechnologie (DTZ2023)

The health of the planet has a direct impact on human health, as environmental factors such as air and water quality, climate patterns and biodiversity have a significant impact on disease prevalence and overall well-being. Conversely, human activities such as pollution, deforestation and climate change can affect ecosystems, increasing health risks for both current and future generations. The focus of this minor is on working on sustainable healthcare projects through research and innovation and through interprofessional collaboration. In this way, we aim to better prepare you for your professional future and enable a smoother transition to future practice.
