Maastricht is a great international student city so there is always something to do. Everything is reachable by bike making for a great energetic city. I lived in Maastricht for the past 3 years. I am a board member of the Maastricht Gaels, a sports association that plays Gaelic football, hurling and camogie. This very lively association participates in and hosts many tournaments with teams from all over Europe.
What was your first impression of your master’s programme at Maastricht University?
Coming from the bachelor Data Science and AI at Maastricht University, I had met master students throughout my studies. Many spoke highly of the courses and level of education. My experience so far has lived up to these expectations with fun yet challenging projects and courses.
Which courses are most interesting?
Although it has only been a few months into the programme, I have to say that I really enjoyed Intelligent Search and Games. This course has a very large practical side as we apply most of what is taught in the course into an individual project. This project involves us making an agent that can play a given board game. In the final week of this course, we have a tournament where we play all the AI’s against each other.
How is the contact between you, your lecturers and fellow students?
As the program is relatively small, there is a lot of contact between students and the professors. They are often available to discuss issues or uncertainties to ensure the students are getting the help they need. Student collaboration occurs a lot as there are many projects and assignments in which we work together. The study spaces are always full of students that are collaborating.
