There is still a lot to be gained when it comes to advising companies how to make the healthiest choices the most attractive

Studying at Maastricht University (UM) is a personalised, life enriching experience that prepares you for the future, both professionally and personally. Our bachelor’s and master’s programmes are designed for students who have an intrinsic curiosity in human behaviour and health. Students ‘who want to go the extra mile’ on a professional and/or personal level. What’s your extra mile?

"I have always felt very much at home at Maastricht University because it is so small-scale. The atmosphere is very welcoming and I love the Problem-Based Learning approach. Therefore, it was a logical choice to do my master’s here, as well.

I have always been passionate about prevention and advising people how to stay healthy and fit. Maintaining a healthy balance in one’s life is crucial to keep stress and potential burnouts at a distance. I chose this particular master’s programme because prevention plays an important role in it. In addition, the programme is also very practical, focussing on the working population and all the aspects that impacts employees’ health. Pressure at work, stress, responsibilities, work-life balance, and motivation are factors that affect one’s sense of well-being.

In this programme, we learn how to do research, assess processes and situations and come up with interventions and guidelines. There is still a lot to be gained when it comes to advising companies how to make the healthiest choices the most attractive. Reducing stress and improving employees’ health leads to less sickness absence, which in turn saves money and also leads to happier employees.

As an ambassador, I can fulfil my passion in helping prospective students with their choices, e.g. by giving information about this programme. After I graduate, I see myself in a teaching role or working for an organisation that is eager to focus on its employees’ well-being in the different stages of their career.”

Iris posts weekly on Instagram about her experiences during the master's programme and her life in Maastricht.

She's also happy to answer your questions about the programme and about (student) life in Maastricht via DM on Instagram.
