"I had known for quite some time that I was really interested in the human body and the medical sector, when I came across the BSc in Biomedical Sciences offered at Maastricht University. My aim was to find a programme combining the fields of human biology and medicine, thus paving the way for a wide variety of career prospects. The fact that Biomedical Sciences is an English-taught programme at an internationally oriented university with a strong reputation finally convinced me to go to Maastricht.
We call our professors by their first names, work in small groups of around 10 people and have quite a few practical training sessions in our schedule. This means that I’m not just learning facts, but also developing professional and social skills, such as intercultural communication, which will be crucial in my future career.
Overall, I am quite satisfied with my programme and can definitely recommend it to anyone who is open-minded, curious and keen on understanding the human body, diseases and research. Plus, despite its relatively small size, Maastricht is a very lively and bustling city with a diverse student community.
To get a better sense of the university and the programme itself, I would definitely recommend visiting one of the Bachelor's Open Days. There, you can meet students currently enrolled like me, while getting to know the learning environment of Maastricht University."
