Tuition fee waiver
Maastricht University has a statutory and an institutional tuition fee. It depends on your situation which tuition fee you have to pay.
Academic year 2022/23

Fee for EU/EEA students
For EU/EEA students, University College Maastricht charges a higher tuition fee than other bachelor’s programmes in the Netherlands as UCM is intensive and small scale, offering personal attention and an academic community. Generally, EU/EEA students pay the statutory fee of € 3,830 (academic year 2023/24), while non-EU students pay € 14,446.

Requirements that candidates must meet
- Candidates must be selected to start at UCM according to the admission criteria.
- Candidates must prove they lack the financial means to pay the additional tariff:
- must not have personal funds available
- must not have parents or guardians who are able to support financially
- must show it cannot be reasonably expected that they can find other means to acquire the necessary amount - Candidates must hold an EU/EEA passport
Application
Candidates should apply for the tuition fee waiver at the same time they apply for the study programme. Applications must be sent to ucm-admissions@maastrichtuniversity.nl. Please bear in mind that the Board of Admissions need to review the application. The sooner a request is made, the sooner a decision can be communicated.
Duration
Candidates will receive the tuition fee waiver for the duration of their registration in the programme, but no longer than four years in total. A leave of absence is allowed after a motivated request. The duration of the waiver will be frozen during the leave of absence. If the student de-enrols and/or graduates from the programme, the tuition fee waiver will be cancelled.
Accepted means of proof
- A letter stating the reasons for the inability to pay.
- Official documentation of the financial situation, such as recent (parental) tax return and/or statements of personal wealth.
Please be aware that if a candidate does not and/or cannot provide the necessary proof, the application will not be assessed by the Board of Admissions.
Decision
The Board of Admissions, or the relevant chamber of the Board of Admissions, reviews the application and communicates the decision as soon as possible to the candidate, but no later than 1 June.
