We live in a fast changing world in which technology raises many ethical concerns. Some of these are relatively clear-cut and the link between technology and consequence is unequivocal. The consequences of other new emerging science and technology like food technologies, cloning, genomics, synthetic biology, nanotechnology and big data analyses are less tangible. Which methods do we have to deal with these new scientific developments in a responsible manner? In what way is societal use of new technologies possible?
