Research Methods: Introduction to Quantitative Methods

The objective of this skills training is to enable students to understand quantitative data and to extract knowledge from them. Students will learn the underlying logic of causal order, get acquainted with levels of measurement and measures of central tendency and dispersion as well as statistical techniques, including measures of association, correlation and regression. The overall goal of the skills training is to show students how to interpret commonly used statistics and how to process data in order to produce a variety of statistical procedures. The tutorial sessions will meet in the computer lab to work with a statistical software package.
Doelstellingen van dit vak
At the end of the course students will:
- be familiar with the principles of the logic of causal order;
- be able to identify the level of measurement of variables;
- be able to interpret and produce measures of central tendencies, measures of association and correlation;
- be able to interpret a regression output.
