Linear Algebra
Volledige vakbeschrijving
Linear algebra is the second basic mathematics course of the programme. Similar to Calculus, it builds on high school mathematics and prepares you for advanced engineering courses that focus on computational skills and techniques.Doelstellingen van dit vak
"At the end of this course, you are able to: - Explain fundamental concepts of linear algebra, including vectors, matrices, systems of linear equations, eigenvalues, eigenvectors, linear transformations, and orthogonality - Approach a problem from different angles and to switch your point of view (from geometric to algebraic and vice versa). You will recognize that LA can be applied to problems from different disciplines. - Understand that various seemingly different questions all can boil down to the same mathematical problem of solving a system of equations, and argue (in a sometimes abstract way) which approach may or may not work - Provide clear arguments to support your solutions in a mathematically correct manner. - Understand and write the language of linear algebra and to communicate the main ideas to an audience of non-expertsVoorwaarden
