The iGEM competition is a prestigious international student competition on synthetic biology and is organized yearly by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In this competition student teams from all over the world try to tackle real-world problems by using synthetic biology. In this project, several important aspects of science will be experienced. Students will brainstorm and decide on their own biological design. This design will then be modelled and built by using standard, interchangeable parts. In addition to the practical aspects, students will also be responsible for project management, funding, media attention and communication to the general public. At the end of the competition, the team will present the project at the iGEM jamboree in Boston in a poster session and by giving an oral presentation.Doelstellingen van dit vak
